Times are a Changing… Post Covid-19 Rules & Regulations

We are finally reopened -- as of Saturday, June 6th -- and while the government requires new rules, for our customers things won’t be too different in Charme (okay, there will for sure be differences like only seeing ½ each others’ faces, but much of what is now required you will find we already did.) Let’s talk about what to expect… fingers crossed we won’t bore you to tears!

  • By appointment ONLY: Walk-ins are no longer allowed (I know, I know… planning is required.) Please book appointments online at charmestudio.com. Not only is it easiest for you, but with our added steps in-between clients, plus servicing everyone for appointments, we will likely not get to the phones in a timely manner.

  • Masks are REQUIRED: this is a government rule to protect you and us. Please enter the studio wearing your mask and keep it on for the duration of your appointment. If you forget your mask, we will sell disposables for $2.

  • Personal items must be limited: all personal items to include cell phone, purse, jacket, etc. MUST be placed in a bin during the service. Bins will be disinfected in-between use by our staff. Did you catch me mentioning CELL PHONES?? Phone use will NOT be allowed during appointments so that we can stay on schedule, keep our work space sanitized, and have plenty of time to clean for our next client.

  • Nail tech will give you hand sanitizer: as always, per standard state regulations which actually require this step, the technician will give you -- and ourselves -- hand sanitizer before beginning any services. This is NOT because we think you’re dirty so don’t take it personally… we’ve always done this, promise!

  • We will disinfect all high-touch areas: before and after your service we are taking the time to make sure mani and pedi stations, the front desk, door handles, polish swatches, check-out devices, etc. are all sanitized for your safety and peace of mind!

  • Brand new buffers/files will be used for each appointment: we’ve ALWAYS done this because it is a state regulation and part of our commitment to safety for our clients... If you see a studio freaking out about this “new” rule, just know they weren’t following regulations before… but I suppose that’s none of our business…

  • Instruments are STERILIZED in a medical-grade autoclave: we’ve ALWAYS done this because again, we care about the safety of our clients. State regulations require instruments to be submerged in a barricade for 20 minutes, our autoclave exceeds that requirement (and no, a UV sterilizer is not the same thing so don’t let anyone lie to you about that!) Seattle Surgical -- the only place in the state that both sells and services autoclaves -- actually told us we are the ONLY nail salon in the South Sound who uses one of these devices… so not to toot our own horn but toot toot, we are the safest (aka best!)

  • Waterless manicures and pedicures: we’ve always done waterless for a NUMBER of reasons, but one of the most important is of course health and safety; by not submerging hands and feet in water we avoid a greater potential for sanitation issues.

  • Staff will be checking temperature before each shift: this one is pretty self explanatory… we just want to make sure we are doing what we can to be safe for you!

Other government guidelines to note:

  • Please self-screen for symptoms of Covid-19 before coming to your appointment.

  • Unless bringing a child under the age of 16, please do not bring any additional guests to your appointment. Not only is this a government rule, but we also do not have the space for extra people.

  • When washing hands before entering the studio, please take a full 20 seconds to do so… you know, sing the Birthday song or something to keep yourself entertained. Haha.

  • Please don’t pay with cash. As much as we like the green, money is dirty and one more thing we don’t want to handle.

Okay, so it’s kind of a lot… but outside of more space between work stations, more time to converse with your nail tech since your phone with be safely stowed away, and you know more smiling with your eyes -- I think Tyra Banks called that “smeyezing” -- because we can’t see your mouth, there’s not THAT much difference from pre-Covid-19 times, right?

We appreciate you hanging in there with us through the changes, ask for a bit of patience as some of this is new for us too, and truly can’t wait to see you in our studio again! Book your next appointment online ASAP (it turns out, people are really eager to pamper so we are getting booked up quick!)

We pride ourselves on being an *LGBTQI+ FRIENDLY establishment!
